A Plant for the Production of Cathode Copper will Open in the Abay Region
A new plant for the production of cathode copper based on the Berkarinsky deposit will open in the Abay region. The domestic investor Arx Minerals LLP with the support of KAZAKH INVEST NC JSC is implementing the project.
The project provides for the extraction of oxidized and mixed ores of the deposit by heap leaching, followed by processing and production of cathode copper using selective extraction and electrolysis (SX-EW) technology. The design mining capacity is 600,000 tons of ore per year, with a capacity of 5,000 tons of cathode copper per year with a grade of at least 99.99%. Total investment sum will be approximately 12 billion tenge.
The implementation of the project will create more than 250 new jobs and provide specialists with a permanent job with a decent level of pay.
In present began the installation of equipment for extraction and electrolysis shops, a laboratory, pumping equipment and a tank farm. Auxiliary equipment, stacker, DSC were supplied. An agreement was signed for the general contract for the construction of mining and metallurgical facilities, design and construction of a shift camp. Contracts were signed for the turnkey construction of a 12 MW boiler house, a sulfuric acid receiving warehouse, external power supply systems, water supply systems, on-site networks (electricity networks, heating networks, and sewerage).
At the same time, with the support of KAZAKH INVEST, Arx Minerals LLP entered into a Priority Investment Contract with the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The signing of this document opens up new prospects for a limited liability partnership. Thanks to this contract, Arx Minerals LLP will receive significant benefits, in particular, a number of tax benefits.
