The first branch of the leading UK university opened in Kazakhstan
A branch of the prestigious British University de Montfort - Leicester (De Montfort University, Leicester) will open in Kazakhstan. It is planned that the university will open its doors to students in September 2021. Thus, Kazakh student will have the opportunity to receive a quality British education, without the need to travel abroad. The university will also offer a range of full and partial scholarships for talented youth from across the region.
The total foreign investment of the opening of a branch of the University, including operating expenses, the acquisition of a building, future construction of a campus over the next 5 years will be approximately US $50 million.
The university has already begun recruiting students in such bachelor's programs as: Finance, Business, Investment, Marketing, International Relations, etc. From January 2022, it is planned to launch the MBA program. Also over the next three years, students will be offered programs in Information Technology, Computer science, Cybersecurity, and Creative industry.
As investors noted, the opening of the University de Montfort-Kazakhstan marks an important stage in the development of international cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UK. According to them, the university guarantees employment for up to 97% of graduates within six months after graduation. According to the British Higher Education Statistics Agency, this university was included in the TOP-20 in terms of employment of graduates.
According to the leadership of the foreign university, 70% of the teaching staff involved in teaching students will be British specialists.
The university, to ensure the availability of foreign education for Kazakh students offers a full 4-year program of study at the cost of one year of study in the UK. This initiative will significantly reduce migration flows and strengthen the domestic economy due to the fact that the main costs associated with training will occur in the country.
At the same time, Kazakh students will be provided with equal opportunities and access to university resources. Also, students will have the opportunity to study on the main campus of the University in Leicester for one year.
