A Business Forum on Investment and Trade and Economic Opportunities in Kazakhstan was Held in Brussels
The Kazakh-Belgian Business Forum with the participation of more than 60 officials and representatives of the business community of Kazakhstan, Belgium and Luxembourg was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brussels, together with the «BECI» (Brussels) and «Benelux» (Astana) Chambers of Commerce.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan Margulan Baimukhan stressed that Belgium is one of the largest investors in our economy. Over the past 30 years, direct investments have exceeded $11 billion, and this figure is increasing every year. Moreover, the volume of trade has been steadily growing in recent years. Today, more than 70 companies with Belgian capital operate in the Kazakh market.
Belgian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Henri Vantieghem noted the important role of Kazakhstan in the Central Asian region and invited Belgian companies to consider the possibility of deepening cooperation with enterprises in Kazakhstan.

During the event, the participants were presented with investment opportunities, as well as the potential for exporting Kazakh products to European markets. Representatives of KAZAKH INVEST National Company spoke about the existing measures of state support for investment projects and mechanisms for protecting investors' rights.
Kazakh companies «QazBioPharm» and «Batys WoodWorks» presented information on the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation in the pharmaceutical and construction spheres.

Following the results of the round table, bilateral memorandums of cooperation were signed between KAZAKH INVEST and a large Belgian logistics company «Ahlers Logistics».
For reference: The company «Ahlers Logistics» first opened an office in Kazakhstan in 1998 and has since been successfully represented in the logistics services market. As a global supplier, Ahlers aims to expand its presence in Central Asia with a hub in Kazakhstan to meet the growing market demand. In this regard, in the near future, the company plans to implement the construction of a logistics center and a warehouse terminal for cargo transportation in Kazakhstan.
In addition, within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the «Benelux» Chamber of Commerce and the company «MEUWISSEN».
For reference: The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belgium in 2023 amounted to 523.7 million US dollars, which is 1.7% higher than in 2022 (514.9 million US dollars). By the end of 2022, the volume of investments in the economy of Kazakhstan from Belgium amounted to 1.560 billion.US dollars. In 2023, in accordance with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev, the Kazakhstan-Belgium Business Council was established.
