The Trade Mission of Kazakhstan has Arrived in the Netherlands
The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, KAZAKH INVEST, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a Kazakh trade mission to the Netherlands. Official representatives and experts from Kazakhstan held a series of meetings with representatives of the Dutch government and business community on agrotechnology and the overall development of the agricultural sector, as well as the promotion of further cooperation between the two countries.
On June 12th of this year, a delegation consisting of representatives from the Aktobe and Zhambyl regions' local administrations, as well as officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, arrived in the Netherlands for a five-day visit. The mission began with an official reception and an informative presentation in the Westland Municipality Council Chamber.
Bouke Arends, the mayor of the Westland municipality, noted the strong and reliable connections between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands in political, economic, and cultural spheres that have developed over the past three decades. He emphasized that the countries have tremendous economic potential for cooperation in horticulture and wide-ranging opportunities to increase exports and provide sustainable solutions for horticulture.
"In Kazakhstan, there is plenty of land, low energy costs, and a talented workforce - the main components of a successful horticultural cluster," he assured the participants.
The reception was also attended by Mirjam Boekestijn, CEO of Dutch Greenhouse Delta, and Dirk Aleven, CEO of FoodVentures.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Abulkhair Tamabek emphasized the important role of the Netherlands as a partner of Kazakhstan. He noted that in the face of modern global problems, the importance of ensuring sustainability in agriculture is highlighted, which requires bold steps in this direction from countries. According to him, active cooperation between the countries and business initiatives served as the basis for conducting this trade mission.
Rob Baan, CEO of Koppert Cress, conducted a tour of the greenhouses where agricultural products are grown. The production process is constantly being improved through cooperation with local startups, allowing for the cultivation of high-quality crops.
In addition, a meeting was held with Lotte van Rijn, CEO of Certhon, and Thom van den Berg, a manager at Certhon. Certhon has established itself as a leading company in the field of automated greenhouses. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of the industry and opportunities for cooperation with Kazakhstani businesses.
During the meetings, the delegates of the trade mission had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with their Dutch counterparts, discussing plans for upcoming events and inviting them to Kazakhstan to consider future business initiatives.
