Roundtable on Investor Rights Protection: KAZAKH INVEST and the General Prosecutor’s Office Present Joint Work Results
The Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan hosted a roundtable discussion on “Investor Rights Protection”, bringing together representatives from government agencies, businesses, and international organizations.
The event’s key speaker, Azamat Kozhanov, Managing Director of JSC "NC KAZAKH INVEST", presented the results of the company's joint work with the Prosecutor's Office to ensure legal support for investors. He emphasized that two General Prosecutor’s Office representatives are permanently stationed at the KAZAKH INVEST office, allowing for the prompt handling of investor inquiries and legal assistance.
"Creating a favorable environment for investors is a top priority of our investment policy. Today, we have built an effective cooperation system with the General Prosecutor’s Office. Since October 2023, to ensure timely coordination of investment project support, two General Prosecutor’s Office staff members have been stationed directly at the KAZAKH INVEST office. This enables investors to contact prosecutors directly, bypassing excessive bureaucratic procedures, and receive the necessary assistance in resolving issues. Investors are provided with legal support at all stages of project implementation," said Azamat Kozhanov.
Through this cooperation, illegal tax and administrative penalties have been prevented, and disputes related to obtaining technical conditions, land plots, and permits have been resolved.
The General Prosecutor’s Office also presented a report on its activities in investor protection. According to Rizat Smagulov, Deputy Head of the Public Interest Protection Service of the General Prosecutor’s Office, front offices have been launched in various regions, and 24/7 call centers have been established in each regional prosecutor’s office to support investors and entrepreneurs.
The roundtable also featured speeches from Arman Aksubayev, Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Ministry of National Economy, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken", and the Business Ombudsman.
During the discussions, participants highlighted that bureaucratic barriers and lengthy administrative procedures remain major challenges for investors. KAZAKH INVEST, in cooperation with government agencies, will continue working on streamlining processes and simplifying permitting procedures to attract and support strategic investments in Kazakhstan.
