Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan began his official visit to Turkey

Ankara, March 18, 2021 - At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi arrived on an official visit to Ankara. 

During the visit, M. Tileuberdi was received by the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Minister conveyed the invitation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev to the informal Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, which will be held on March 31 this year in Turkestan. The head of Turkey also received a personal message from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. 

Within the framework of the visit to Ankara, chaired by the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries, the 6th meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group was held. During the event, the parties discussed the priority issues on the agenda of bilateral relations. In particular, the parties considered ways to further develop political, trade and economic, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. 

M. Tileuberdi noted in his speech that Turkey is an important, strategic and reliable partner of Kazakhstan on the Eurasian continent. “We note with satisfaction the consistently high level of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The unshakable friendship between our fraternal peoples and the structured political dialogue at the highest level provide a full opportunity to deepen our mutually beneficial strategic partnership, ”said the head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry. 

M. Chavushoglu, in turn, stressed that strong economic ties are a solid foundation of Kazakh-Turkish cooperation, which must be strengthened and used for all available potential. The Turkish minister also added that Kazakhstan is "the historical homeland of all Turks" and Turkey attaches great importance to the spiritual ties between our peoples. 

The parties expressed deep satisfaction with the pace of development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey, stressing the mutual desire to further strengthen the partnership in bilateral and multilateral formats. The increased role of Nur-Sultan and Ankara in regional and global politics, as well as the authority of the two countries in the Turkic world, was noted.

 This year our country celebrates the 30th anniversary of Independence, and Turkey was one of the first to recognize our independence in the international arena. Next year, Kazakhstan and Turkey will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Over the years, bilateral cooperation between the countries has reached the level of strategic partnership. Kazakhstan and Turkey closely interact on bilateral, regional and international platforms. 

The successful cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres was especially noted. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, bilateral trade exceeded US $ 3 billion and the parties intend to bring this figure to US $ 10 billion.

 At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Turkey expressed their intention to continue the dialogue and consistently resolve all issues of bilateral relations on the basis of strategic partnership. 

On this day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the Vice-President of TC Fuat Oktay. The parties discussed preparations for the next 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which is co-chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mamin and F. Oktay himself.
