Swiss Business Leaders Plan to Invest in Kazakhstan
Within the framework of the official visit of the Kazakh delegation headed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Swiss Confederation, a number of meetings were held with the largest Swiss companies on the implementation of investment projects in Kazakhstan.
In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R. Sklyar met with the President of KS Genetics Switzerland Filippo Lombardi to discuss the practical implementation of the project to create a full-cycle export-oriented livestock complex in the Almaty region.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held negotiations with the ex-Federal President of the Swiss Confederation, Minister of Finance Ueli Maurer, Chief Executive Officer of Stadler Rail AG Peter Spuhler on the implementation of the signed Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC and the company “Stadler Bussnang AG”.

In addition, the Minister of Health Alexey Tsoy met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss pharmaceutical company “F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd” by Dr. Christoph Franz, during which the issues of access to innovative products for the treatment of rare diseases, the importance of the transfer of Swiss technologies to Kazakhstan were discussed. Also, the head of the Ministry of Health, together with the Chairman of the Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Meirzhan Yussupov, held a meeting with the company “Sandoz AG” to consider a number of issues on the creation of production of generics and biosimilars. So, at the meeting, the company was offered to conduct joint research in the field of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
A meeting of the Chairman of the Board of the ALE “Union of Mechanical Engineers of Kazakhstan” Meiram Pshembaev with the “Ammann Group” company took place on the opening of a service center for road-building equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the possibility of considering the creation of an assembly production.

Also, the management of NWF “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC held negotiations with the Swiss company INOKS Capital on the implementation of a project for the construction of a fruit storage and an intensive garden in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the creation of a joint agar fund to finance agricultural projects.
In addition, the management of the CI MFA RK, “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC, United Chemical Company LLP held meetings with the Managing Director for Global Key Clients of the Swiss multinational Clariant Company Yarle Schold on the localization of chemical production in the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account increasing global demand for industrial chemicals. By the way, already at the beginning of next year, a visit of the Clariant company management to the Republic of Kazakhstan is planned.
Also, meetings were held with the commercial director of Buhler Rutz Fabian, the general director of Bakha Söhne LLP, Zarechnyj LLP A. Aripov on the construction of a plant for the production of gluten-free flakes in Akmola region with the participation of the Swiss company Buhler.
In addition, a meeting was held with the Chief Executive Officer of Polymetrix AG Martin Muller on the implementation of a large investment project in the Zhambyl region for the construction of a plant for the production of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) with the participation of the Kazakh company JV TarazPet LLP.

It should be noted that Switzerland is one of the largest strategic partners of Kazakhstan, which is among the top three countries in terms of FDI. The integration of Swiss capital into the economy of our country has reached 26 billion Swiss francs over the past 15 years. More than 200 Swiss companies are successfully operating in Kazakhstan today. About 20 investment projects are being jointly implemented, the participants of which are such world giants as Glencore, Stadler CIS AG, Sika, Swiss Grow and others.
It is important to note that the agreements on the Kazakh-Swiss projects being developed, which arose during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi in the fall of this year to Switzerland, found practical implementation in the projects announced by the heads of Swiss and Kazakh companies, during the visit of the President K.K. Tokayev to Switzerland.
