KGIR 2021: Kazakhstan Definitely has Great Opportunities for RES Development
Kazakhstan certainly has excellent opportunities for the development of the RES sector: good wind conditions, favourable solar radiation and large space. This opinion was expressed by the CEO of Goldbeck Solar Joachim Goldbek during the round table KGIR 2021, organized by «NC «KAZAKH INVEST» JSC.
“Global initiatives such as the Paris Agreement or the recent COP26 in Glasgow are good examples of awareness-raising. Climate change is a serious threat to the quality of life of humanity. But nevertheless, this is a great opportunity. People, companies, countries working in this direction undoubtedly play a leading role, guiding society in a sustainable way”, - noted the head of Goldbeck Solar Company Joachim Goldbek in the foreword of his speech, focusing on participants' potential for RES development.
The Speaker stressed that the measures taken by Kazakhstan in the direction of solar energy have laid the foundation for the activities of Goldbeck Solar in our country. Today the company has successfully implemented a number of projects on the construction of solar power stations, including «Saran» with a capacity of 100 MW in 2018, «Akadyr I» with a capacity of 50 MW in 2019 and «Akadyr II» with a capacity of 26 MW in 2020 in Karaganda region.
“During the implementation of these projects, Kazakh institutions proved themselves professionally. The realization of the latest project «Akadyr II» deserves special attention. We started construction in April and put the plant into operation in June, that is in just 3 months. And this despite the harsh winter and the Covid-19 pandemic”, - said Joachim Goldbeck.

Also, according to the Speaker, sustainable development is a license to participate in the game among the 30 most developed countries.
“It is important that Kazakhstan in the next 30 years becomes a beacon for sustainable investments. This will strengthen the position of Kazakhstan among 30 developed countries - exporters of clean energy and environmentally friendly products”, added Joachim Goldbeck.
By the way, Kazakhstan’s latest goals are to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 30% by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality in the energy sector by 2060.
