KGIR 2021: «Chevron» was one of the first foreign investors to Kazakhstan
«Chevron» was one of the first foreign investors in Kazakhstan and our partnership was based on trust and transparency. They are the basis of our partnership. This opinion was expressed at the Fourth Annual Round Table on Global Investment (KGIR-2021) Chevron Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Wirth in his video presentation organized by JSC «NK «KAZAKH INVEST».
«When Kazakhstan became an independent State 30 years ago, the country’s leadership foresaw a progressive and prosperous future. The basis for attracting foreign investment, new technologies and new ideas for building a market economy and attracting investors and businesses was then established. A perfect example of such an economic basis for the partnership between «Chevron» and Kazakhstan is «Tengizshevrol», - so noted Chevron Chairman Michael Wirth.
Chevron is one of the largest producers of affordable, reliable and clean energy and plays an important role in the country’s economic development.
According to the head of Chevron, since 1993 direct financial payments «Tengizshevril» to Kazakh organizations and enterprises amounted to more than 158 billion. The Committee notes with concern that the Government of Kazakhstan has made significant progress in the area of human rights, including the payment of salaries to Kazakh workers, the purchase of Kazakh goods and services and the payment of taxes.
We have also worked closely with our partners to contribute to the country’s economic growth and strategic goals. Our work has shown what we can achieve with the strength of partnership. I am proud of our joint achievements over the last three decades, and I am confident that together we will continue to build a prosperous future for the next generations», - summarized by Michael Wirt.
