Kazakhstan delegation took part in SPIEF-2021
On June 2-5 this year, the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held in St. Petersburg. This is the first major international forum held in person since the beginning of the pandemic, with strict compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological requirements. The forum's slogan is «TOGETHER AGAIN. THE ECONOMY OF THE NEW REALITY».
The forum was attended by a representative delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The delegation included the Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms, the Governor of the AIFC «Astana» K. Kelimbetov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC A.Satkaliyev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Е.Kosherbayev, Chairman of the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market M. Abylkasymova, Chairman of «Baiterek» NMH» JSC A. Arifkhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of «NC «KazMunayGas» JSC A. Aidarbayev, as well as heads of national companies and representatives of domestic business.
The Kazakh delegation took part in key events of the economic forum, including the plenary session, where the main speakers were Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Federal Chancellor of Austria S. Kurz.
During the visit, negotiations were held with foreign partners and a number of agreements and memoranda were signed.

Thus, it is important to sign an agreement between «NC «KazMunayGas» JSC, «KazTransOil» JSC, «Main Water Pipeline» LLP and the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) on cooperation on the project of reconstruction of the water pipeline «Astrakhan – Mangyshlak».
Taking into account the scale of housing construction plans in Kazakhstan, it is promising to establish cooperation between the Baiterek Holding and DOM. RF, which signed a Memorandum on the exchange of information and experience in implementing state and industry programs.
The National Welfare Fund (NWF) of Kazakhstan Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the Rusnano-Sintez Foundation (a joint project of Rusnano and Sintez Oka) have agreed to jointly finance projects in the field of small - and medium-tonnage chemistry.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) have signed a Memorandum of cooperation. Within the framework of the Memorandum, the EDB will consider the possibility of providing Sokolovsko-Sarbayskoye JSC Mining and Processing Production Association (SSGPO) with a credit line for pre-export financing, as well as financing the company's investment program.

Kazpost and Russian Post signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation in the field of transit logistics solutions related to the movement and storage of international mail, including the use of Kazpost bonded warehouses in the FEZ «Khorgos – Eastern Gate» and the international postal exchange point «Zharkent».
Within the framework of the forum, meetings of the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Е.Kosherbayev, the management of the Trade Representative Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation and «NC «KAZAKH INVEST» JSC with the governors of the Tyumen (A. Moore), Vladimir (V. Sipyagin), Omsk (A. Burkov), Tver (I. Rudeney), Astrakhan (I. Babushkin), Kaluga (V. Shapsha) and Novgorod regions (A. Nikitin), the Minister of the Government of Moscow, the head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations S. Cheremin, the Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on Budget and Financial Markets A. Artamonov, Deputy Director General of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives D. Glushko.
During the talks, the sides discussed the expansion of interregional economic and investment cooperation, industrial cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, as well as the further development of tourism, medicine, education and cultural and humanitarian ties.
The representatives of the Kazakh delegation also met with the heads of major Russian companies interested in developing business in Kazakhstan.
In particular, at the meeting with the head of the company «Russian Friends Capital» A. Kuznetsov, the issues of implementation of the investment project for the construction of a plant for growing Atlantic salmon in the Almaty region (FEZ «Khorgos Eastern Gate») were discussed.
During the negotiations with the President of the TECHNONICOL Corporation S. Kolesnikov, the issues of implementing the project for the construction of two plants for the production of polymer thermal insulation and stone wool in the Almaty region were discussed.
T. Bakalchuk, General Director of Wildberries, exchanged views on the prospects for the construction of omnichannel trade support centers in Nur-Sultan and Almaty.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) has been held since 1997, and since 2006 it has been held under the patronage and with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation. According to the organizers, over the past years, the forum has become a leading global platform for business representatives to communicate and discuss key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole. This year, the total amount of agreements signed by St. Petersburg this year at the international economic forum exceeded 200 billion rubles. The next St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held in early June 2022.
