Kazakhstan Strengthens Cooperation with Italian Marche Region
On June 28-29, 2024, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Italy Yerbolat Sembayev and Foreign Representative of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" in Southern Europe Altynay Mukanova paid a working visit to the Italian region of Marche.
On the first day of the visit, with the support of Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Ostra Vetere, a conference was held on the prospects of economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy. On the second day of the visit, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Italy made a welcoming speech at the "Dialogues about Europe" seminar in Jesi. On behalf of the Italian side, the events were attended by the Mayor of Jesi, business community representatives, and the Marche region council.
During the events, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Italy, Y. Sembayev, familiarized the Italian business community with the main directions of economic reforms in Kazakhstan and spoke about new business opportunities for Italy.
In turn, A. Mukanova presented Kazakhstan's investment opportunities to Italian companies and also spoke about measures of state support for foreign investors and the work of the national company to attract investments. The KAZAKH INVEST representative also held several meetings with companies operating in the region.
Thus, during the meeting, Monterosso CEO Leila Segoni noted the company's interest in the Kazakh market in terms of implementing projects for the production of pasta. A. Mukanova stressed that last year, Kazakhstan supplied 400 thousand tons of wheat to Italy, noting the priority of establishing the production of processing agricultural products in Kazakhstan.
A. Mukanova discussed the issues of developing the potential of the machine-building industry with representatives of the Schnell company. The foreign representative stressed that in the context of key industry sectors, there are significant reserves for saturation of the domestic market due to the development of domestic machine-building products. Schnell is a world leader in producing automatic rebar processing machines, electric welded wire mesh production, and software technologies for all centers that produce various bending elements.
Also, a meeting was held with the Sapir group, which is the leading operator of the terminal in the port of Ravenna at the Darcena di San Vitale pier. A. Mukanova discussed the development of the potential of the TMTM corridor, which connects China with European countries through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The project began to be implemented in 2013, assuming that this route would reduce the delivery time of Chinese goods to Europe by three times. Sapir Group terminals represent one of the largest port territories in Italy.
Representatives of the Italian business got acquainted with the investment potential of Kazakhstan with great interest, thanked the Kazakh delegation for the informative presentations, received answers to their questions, and expressed interest in developing relations with Kazakhstan.
