Kazakhstan expands investment cooperation with leading Qatari companies
An official visit of the Kazakh delegation headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov to the State of Qatar took place.
During the visit, the delegates held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurahman Al-Thani, Minister of Municipalities and Environmental Protection HE Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaye, with First Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar HE Mohammed bin Towar Al Kuwari, head of Qatar Airways Akbar Al-Baker and heads of national companies Qatar Investment Authority and Hassad Food.
The Kazakh-Qatar Business Council was held with the participation of the business circles of the two countries, where the priority areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar were discussed.
First Deputy Prime Minister A. Smailov noted that there is great potential for the development of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres, stressing the importance of active involvement of the private sector in deepening and expanding interstate relations between Kazakhstan and Qatar.
At the same time, during his speech the Chairman of the Board of "KAZAKH INVEST" NC" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov presented the investment potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Qatari side, and also acquainted the participants of the meeting with new approaches used in the state system of attracting investments, preferences and other instruments that create comfortable climate for foreign business to work in Kazakhstan.
“Today Kazakhstan is carrying out large-scale reforms designed to promote economic diversification and create favorable conditions for business and investment. So, speaking about the strengthening of bilateral relations and investment cooperation between our countries, it should be noted that the country's leadership pays special attention to Qatar. I hope that in the future, thanks to such support, we will begin to implement joint investment projects. We are already gradually taking steps to strengthen our relationship with Qatar. By the way, there are already several Qatari companies that consider Kazakhstan as a destination for their investments," Meirzhan Yussupov added.
Also, within the framework of the visit, the head of the national company held a number of meetings with the leadership of the Qatari companies IPAQ, QBA, Baladna, Alfardan, Regency Group. During the negotiations, investors were presented with 55 specific investment proposals totaling about $ 15 billion in the agribusiness, mining and metallurgical industry, construction, etc.
It is worth noting that the Kazakh delegation included the heads of "Samruk-Kazyna" NWF" JSC, "KAZAKH INVEST" NC" JSC, "Kazakh Tourism" NC" JSC, "Baiterek" NMH" JSC, vice ministers of foreign affairs, agriculture , national economy, culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the management of the companies "BI Group", "Agro Holding Dinara Group", "Target AI", "Evotech CA", "Olzha Agro" LLP and others.
