Kazakhstan: Recent Developments, New Opportunities
KAZAKH INVEST organized a webinar for honorary consuls accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event on the theme "Kazakhstan: recent events, new opportunities" was held online on the "ZOOM" platform.
Honorary Consuls, who are directly involved in attracting investors to our country, expressed concern over the past tragic events in January 2022. In their opinion, such a situation may alienate potential investors from Kazakhstan.
In turn, KAZAKH INVEST informed the participants of the webinar about the new investment policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The country's leadership took timely and strong-willed measures that completely stabilized the situation. The open door policy for foreign investment remains a strategic priority for Kazakhstan. The state undertakes to fulfill all its obligations and guarantees to partners and investors in full.
“A wide range of dialogue platforms is available for investors in Kazakhstan, starting with the Council of Foreign Investors chaired by the President, the investment headquarters under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the investment ombudsman chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where specific investor projects and their problematic issues are considered. All of them are coordinated and conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said Meirzhan Yussupov, Chairman of the Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC.
Today, the national company has created a three-level system for attracting investments. At the external level, the embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of KAZAKH INVEST are responsible for finding and establishing direct contact with potential investors, as well as for conducting initial negotiations. Central government bodies provide sectoral support and preparation of investment proposals. At the project landing stage, local executive bodies process investor applications and assist in project implementation.
Since gaining independence in 1991, Kazakhstan has always paid great attention to creating a stable and attractive investment environment. This allowed us to become a regional center for investors and attract about $380 billion to our economy.
It is important to note that Kazakhstan is among the 5 countries in the world whose credit rating was upgraded by the international agency Moody's. (from Baa3 to Baa2, outlook Stable).
