Kazakhstan and Germany intend to jointly develop the transport and logistics industry
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and heads of German companies held the 10th online meeting on bilateral cooperation. The agenda discussed the issue of deepening Kazakh-German cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of about 50 leading German companies, including Rhenus Group, Deutsche Bahn AG, Deutsche Post, DHL Group, etc.
In his speech, Roman Sklyar noted that the development of mutually beneficial partnerships with investors from Germany in a wide range of areas is strategically significant for Kazakhstan. In this regard, the Kazakh side is ready to provide full assistance for the successful implementation of joint projects, including in the field of transport and logistics.
The German side was represented by Niko Varbanoff, member of the ECGE Board, Co-Chairman of the KGBC, Director for International Business, Deutsche Bahn AG, who emphasized the importance of developing comprehensive trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Germany.
In his speech, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany Steffen Bilger noted the possibility of developing the interaction of Kazakhstan with EU countries by expanding the railway infrastructure.
During the speech, the member of the Rhenus Group member Michael Viefers shared a 20-year-old successful experience in Kazakhstan. To date, the company has created 3 offices in the cities of Nur Sultan, Almaty, and Karaganda for the effective organization of freight traffic in the direction of Iran and China.
Additionally, the representative of Deutsche Post DHL Group Thomas Baldry reported the need to increase the interaction between Kazpost JSC and Deutsche Post and study the development of alternative mail routes.
The online meeting was held in the format of a lively discussion, the heads of leading German companies paid special attention to the prospects for the development of transport and logistics in general, as well as the potential of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint projects. At the end of the meeting, a question-and-answer discussion took place.
