Kazakhstan and France Strengthen Cooperation in Renewable Energy

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov and Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” Madiyar Sultanbek met with a delegation of the French Development Agency (AFD), including Gulnoza Callens, who headed the agency's new representative office in Astana. During the meeting, the parties discussed the agency's activities in Kazakhstan.

Thus, one of the priority areas of AFD's work in Kazakhstan is the development of the renewable energy industry and support in the transition to sustainable energy. A. Kuantyrov informed the agency's representatives about the prospects for the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan.

"This sector has significant untapped economic potential and is a key area for the development of the country's energy complex. The demand for components is mainly covered by imports from China and Russia. At the same time, geographical and climatic conditions give Kazakhstan a strategic advantage in increasing the production of sustainable energy in the region, and the demand for components continues to grow due to a large number of investment projects in the field of renewable energy. Thus, the market for the production of renewable energy components presents great prospects for domestic and foreign investors, and we are ready to provide comprehensive support to investment projects in this direction," the Deputy Minister said.

The parties also discussed the agency's promising projects in the field of healthcare and regional development.

At the end of the meeting, G. Callens thanked the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KAZAKH INVEST for their support and expressed hope for further cooperation in the implementation of promising projects.

AFD is an agency of the French Government that finances projects in developing countries by supporting public institutions and private companies. The Regional Bureau for Eurasia works in four directions: sustainable urban development, integrated territorial management of natural resources, transition to clean energy and inclusive models of political and economic development.
