Kazakhstan and Denmark: Developing Investment Cooperation in the Mining Sector
Today, Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Tony Laaksonen, CEO of the Danish company FLSmidth, at JSC NC KAZAKH INVEST.
FLSmidth & Co. A/S is a major engineering company in the mining and cement industries, specializing in the development and supply of integrated technological solutions, equipment, and services for the extraction and processing of minerals, including digital solutions, automation of production processes, and sustainable production technologies.
To strengthen its long-term presence in the region and increase the level of localization of its services, the company is implementing a project to expand its service center in Karaganda. The project involves the modernization and significant expansion of the service infrastructure for servicing mining companies in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The total investment is approximately $15 million. The service center will provide a wide range of services, including the manufacture and refurbishment of equipment components, repair and modernization of mining equipment, assembly and maintenance of components and assemblies, and engineering and technical support for mining and metallurgical companies.
During the talks, the parties discussed the upcoming opening of the company's expanded service center. Gabidulla Ospankulov emphasized that this project is viewed as an example of a long-term industrial partnership focused on equipment supply, localization, and technology transfer.
The participants noted the significant potential for moving from cooperation in services and supplies to a more integrated industrial partnership.
Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their mutual interest in continuing the dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
