Kazakhstan and Switzerland Discuss Joint Projects in Sustainable Development and Green Energy
A delegation from the Kyzylorda Region, headed by Akim Nurlibek Nalibayev and Deputy Akim Ardak Zebeshev, paid a working visit to the Swiss Confederation with the aim of presenting the region’s investment opportunities, expanding international cooperation, and attracting strategic partners. During the visit, the foreign representative of JSC «NC «KAZAKH INVEST» for European countries, Altynay Mukanova, presented the potential of the Kyzylorda Region to Swiss companies.
The delegation included representatives of the Akimat of the Kyzylorda Region, regional development institutions, as well as Kazakhstani businesses operating in the fields of the agro-industrial complex, livestock breeding, and agricultural product processing.
As part of the visit, negotiations were held with Nicolas Melki, a representative of one of Switzerland’s leading investment structures, Inoks Capital SA. During the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of agriculture, including the development of livestock breeding, the production of compound feed, and the effective utilization of the region’s agro-industrial potential.
Meetings were also held with Xavier Rey, Head of the Swiss company Swiss Choice Holding SA. During these negotiations, the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the field of fisheries and the implementation of joint investment projects. The Kazakh side presented the potential of the agro-industrial complex and fish processing industry. The region currently operates 11 fish processing plants, four of which are certified according to international standards. The annual processing volume exceeds 5,000 tons, with about 4,000 tons of products exported each year.
In addition, during the visit, Almaz Alsenov discussed with representatives of Harvest Group issues related to the implementation of the project for the creation of a modern agro-industrial cluster in the region. This project is a continuation of the initiative proposed by the Swiss company Harvest Agro during the working trip of the Head of State to the Kyzylorda region on October 30. At the Kazakhstan Global Investment Round KGIR-2025 forum in Astana, a trilateral framework agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the akimat of the Kyzylorda region, and Harvest Agro. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to cultivate and process industrial crops such as hemp, corn, and soybeans on an area of 20 thousand hectares. The volume of investments will amount to 51 billion tenge, and the implementation of the project will create more than 150 new jobs.
During the negotiations with Vincent Subilia, Chairman of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GGIG), the Swiss side was provided with information on the region’s key areas of economic growth and investment opportunities.
Swiss businesses expressed interest in participating in joint projects and are ready to visit the region to explore its industrial, agricultural, and natural potential.
