KAZAKH INVEST at the International Conference “Asia Grains&Oils Conference: Results of 2023” in Almaty
The “Asia Grains&Oils Conference: Results of 2023” international conference was held in Almaty. It was dedicated to the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. Deputy Director of the Project Department of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” Saule Sabyr spoke at the panel session “Agroindustrial Complex of Kazakhstan: Awaiting Transformations.”
The conference discussed the key challenges of the agricultural sector in the context of global climate change and geopolitical upheavals, as well as growth points and investment opportunities in the farming sector. Representatives of industry associations, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan attended the event.
In her speech, S. Sabyr spoke about the activities of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC, government support measures, investment opportunities, and the growing investment potential of the agricultural sector.
“For the first half of 2023, the gross inflow of foreign direct investment in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries amounted to $31.5 million, 59% higher than the figure for the same period in 2022. Moreover, according to the Bureau of National Statistics ASPI RK, the volume of investments in fixed capital in farms for the period January-October 2023 amounted to 778.18 billion tenge, or 108.7% of the same period in 2022,” the Deputy Director emphasized.
At the end of her speech, S. Sabyr noted several areas in the agricultural sector that should be paid closer attention. Those include deep processing of grain, processing of fruits and vegetables, and production of baby food. The products of these industries are considered high-margin and form the basis of the country’s food security.
