KAZAKH INVEST at the II Lithium 2024 Industry Conference in Moscow
On October 3 this year, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Creon Energy, the II Lithium 2024 Industry Conference was held in Moscow. The conference was dedicated to the challenges and prospects for the development of the lithium industry. Director of the Project Department Bauyrzhan Aitkulov spoke at the event on behalf of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST.”
As part of the Lithium 2024 business program, participants reviewed a number of topical issues in the lithium industry, including existing and potential solutions for creating a complete technological chain. The participants also discussed the role of state corporations and financial institutions in strengthening the industry and the prospects for its development.
During his speech, B. Aitkulov noted the growing demand for lithium from battery manufacturers, which, in turn, led to an unprecedented increase in world prices for lithium oxides. According to the Director, this trend has created favorable conditions for activating the lithium industry in Kazakhstan. B. Aitkulov also noted that one of the key problems of the industry in Kazakhstan is the low lithium content in local ores, which makes mining less profitable and creates additional challenges for investors.
"The solution to this problem lies in the development of a complete processing chain, which includes not only the extraction process but also the processing of raw materials, as well as the creation of high–value-added products such as lithium batteries and other high-tech products," the Director added.
In conclusion, B. Aitkulov summarized that the development of the lithium industry in Kazakhstan has great potential due to the state's active support and cooperation with international investors.
