Islamic World and Kazakhstan: Investments to Food Security in the World

On June 8-9, representatives of national company KAZAKH INVEST took part in the High Level Forum of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS). The Forum organized by Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNAIU).

The Forum was attended by high officials of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as representatives of the world scientific community in connection with the 70th anniversary birth of Academician Tlektes Yespolov, Rector of KazNAIU.

According to United Nation, since pandemic time the number of people suffering from acute food shortages has reached 135 million, 800 million more are suffering from chronic hunger. The situation is aggravated against the backdrop of events in Ukraine and the growth of the Food Price Index of the World Food Organization (FAO).


On May 20 this year, the G7 member countries (Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Italy, France, Japan and the USA) agreed to create an alliance to combat the global shortage of products. In this regard, the representatives of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation also noted the importance of joining efforts in solving this problem.


During the Forum, Dina Orazymbetova and Saule Sabyr heads of department of KAZAKH INVEST presented information on priority areas and instruments of state support in the implementation of projects in the field of the agribusiness of Kazakhstan and activities of KAZAKH INVEST in the field of attracting foreign investment.

Negotiations were held with Atyab International Services on the project “Construction of an agricultural center for laboratory analyzes for compliance with Halal and Organic standards”, the Arab Agency for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) on investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, the International Islamic Food Industry Association (IFPA) in part creation of processing industries, as well as other organizations.

The Forum held visit potential investors, including the Meat Processing and Service LLP. The company is a stable supplier of chilled meat products to the Middle East.

Reference: IOFS is to ensure food security and promote the development of agriculture and rural areas in the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Kazakhstan became a full member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 1995.
