Investment Opportunities of Kazakhstan Presented at CERAWeek 2025
The annual international energy event CERAWeek 2025, took place in Houston. Marat Birimzhan, Foreign Representative of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" in the USA, participated as part of the official delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
CERAWeek is one of the largest and leading platforms for discussing global energy issues, investments, technological innovations, and sustainable development. During the conference, the Kazakh delegation held a series of meetings with executives of major international energy corporations, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, and ENI, as well as with senior U.S. government officials.
During the events, Marat Birimzhan presented Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities to companies in the oil and gas machinery and petroleum refining equipment sectors, such as Honeywell and Schneider Electric. He highlighted the active development of projects in oil and gas, renewable energy, and the prospects for cooperation in advanced technologies and production localization.
At meetings with leading American nuclear energy companies, including TerraPower and Uranium Energy Corporation, discussions focused on studying U.S. expertise in the development and operation of small modular reactors (SMRs).
Kazakhstan is actively developing its critical materials sector, which is in high demand in high-tech industries. In this context, Marat Birimzhan held negotiations with Ivanhoe Mines, Vale Base Metals, and Pure Lithium - global leaders in the extraction and processing of copper, lithium, and other strategically important metals.
During the discussions, Marat Birimzhan emphasized Kazakhstan’s strong investment potential:
"Kazakhstan offers extensive opportunities for international investors, including large-scale projects in traditional and renewable energy, petrochemicals, engineering, and critical minerals. We are committed to strengthening partnerships with leading global companies, developing local production, and attracting new investments to the country," noted Marat Birimzhan.
Following CERAWeek 2025, the parties agreed to continue negotiations on several joint projects, including expanding cooperation in clean energy, developing local manufacturing, extracting and processing critical minerals, modernizing infrastructure, and launching new sustainability initiatives.
