Investment and trade in the focus of the Kazakh-Romanian partnership
With the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Romania, and the Prahova region a Kazakh-Romanian business forum was held in a video conference format.
During the event, in which 80 businessmen fr om both countries took part, the Embassy presented the leading sectors of the Kazakhstan economy, in particular the new possibilities of partnership in the field of light and heavy industry. At the same time, participants of the business forum were informed in detail about investment preferences, activities of MFCA, and free economic zones in our country.
Managing Director of NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC Zhandos Temirgali presented the prospects for doing business, the advantages of the regions and supply routes, the system of the legal protection of investors in Kazakhstan.
Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania Ovidiu Silaghi and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Prahova Aurelian Gogulescu presented the trade and economic potential of the country, talked about the prospects for joint business, and introduced Romanian companies that intend to enter the market of Kazakhstan.
The forum consisted of three-panel sessions - industry and construction, agriculture, and trade and services - wh ere businessmen from the two countries were able to present their companies' activities and establish direct contact.
In general, the business forum confirmed the mutual interest of Kazakhstan and Romania to step up trade, economic, and investment cooperation. In particular, businessmen noted the importance of diversifying trade towards manufacturing products.
For reference: in 2020, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Romania was $1.3 billion (exports - $1.26 billion). Exports - 1.26 billion, imports - 73 million.
The main items of Kazakhstan's exports: oil, chemical products, and metals.
The main imports from Romania: machinery, equipment, electrical equipment, metals and metal products, products of chemical and related industries, plastics, and rubber.
