Chinese Business Participation in Industrial Zone Near Stepnogorsk Discussed in Astana
Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alisher Kozhasbayev, and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST," Azamat Kozhanov, held a meeting with Mr. Liu Yue, Director of the Kazakhstan Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The parties discussed opportunities to attract major Chinese investors to the industrial zone being developed near the city of Stepnogorsk.
The planned industrial zone is located on a site with the potential for full-scale engineering infrastructure. The zone is designed for the placement of capital-intensive industries in priority sectors such as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, construction, and raw material processing. Its strategic location in the central part of the country, close to major logistics routes, gives the Stepnogorsk site strong potential for establishing high-tech manufacturing and joint ventures.
“We are interested in creating an industrial zone that will serve as a model site for the localization of advanced production. Support from a reputable organization like CCPIT is crucial for attracting high-quality projects. We are ready to offer investors not only ready-made infrastructure but also a full range of government support,” said Alisher Kozhasbayev during the meeting.
In turn, Mr. Liu Yue, Director of the CCPIT Kazakhstan Office, noted that Kazakhstan has all the necessary conditions for launching joint industrial initiatives and remains an important partner for China in Central Asia. He confirmed CCPIT’s readiness — an organization that unites over 300,000 large Chinese companies — to promote the project and facilitate direct contacts with potential investors.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation to promote the industrial zone among CCPIT members and relevant Chinese industry associations.
